Save on Christmas Shopping
We are big advocates of giving thoughtful gifts at Christmas time that suit the person you are buying for. Often we recommend things like the gift of time to other adults, things like vouchers for mowing, babysitting, and helping around the house. For kids, a day out with a loved aunt, uncle, or another close adult will trump something material. However, we know there’s also something to be said for a shiny gift under the Christmas Tree.
If for you the magic of Christmas includes gift-giving, chances are you already know who you want to buy for. We think right now is a great time to tidy up your list of recipients, brainstorm some gift ideas, and be ready for the bargains that often come with this one weekend of the year. Why wait a few weeks and pay full price when chances are this weekend you can get the same thing for less!
We know that Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales are also a great time to stock up on any big purchases that you’ve been waiting for the right time to make.
Department Stores, Online marketplaces, furniture stores, and big electric shops like JB HiFi and The Good Guys to mention a few all want a slice of the pie, and often slash prices significantly. Just remember that many retail stores will price match, so do your research beforehand if you’re going to a physical store, and be ready to buy online if they won’t match the best price you’ve seen.
Be Prepared – Write a List
Some of us are super focused and only buy what we need while others of us will be swayed by the thought of grabbing so many bargains!
If you fall into the latter group you will know that the problem with this sort of shopping is you end up with things you don’t need and a great deal of buyer’s remorse.
We suggest writing a list of exactly what you want to buy for yourself and exactly who you want to buy gifts for including gift ideas and a budget.
Remember the idea of shopping over this weekend is to spend less and save some extra money….not to spend more!
Rather than buy your item in the first place it catches your eye take the time to jump online and do a price comparison. Often you will find a variety of prices, and the challenge this weekend is to find what you need for as low as you can.
If you have a favourite brand or store, make sure you check out your memberships to see if you can purchase some eGift cards for that little bit more of a discount.
